MODERN SLAVERY STATEMENT FOR FINANCIAL YEAR ENDING 31 DECEMBER 2021
About Cineworld
Cineworld is the second largest cinema group in the world, with operations in the US, the UK, Ireland, Poland, Israel, Hungary, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania and Slovakia. Cineworld Group plc has been listed on the London Stock Exchange since May 2007.
Supply Chain
Our supply chain comprises three key components:
Retail: We have relationships with retail suppliers, whose role primarily entails providing food, beverages and merchandise to our cinemas.
Operational: We have relationships with developers and landlords to manage our sites. We also have relationships with suppliers of technology, and with those who provide services to our cinemas.
Film production: We have a number of relationships with film studios who provide content to be shown in our cinemas.
Cineworld Policy Statement
We have long had a commitment to manage relationships with our suppliers fairly, and to work in accordance with our aspirations as set out in our ethical policies.
We do not tolerate modern slavery either within our business itself, or within our supply chain, and take this issue seriously. We expect our supply chain (whether direct suppliers or those that directly or indirectly supply our direct suppliers) to share the same values.
Arrangements with Suppliers
Our relationships are, in the main, with high profile third party suppliers, so to that end we have focused our compliance efforts on seeking to satisfy ourselves as to the robustness of the steps taken by these organisations by periodically reviewing samples of publicly available policies.
For operational suppliers, we focus more directly on seeking assurances to our satisfaction within our contracts, where it is deemed necessary, that they are abreast of this issue and conduct their operations in a manner which is compliant with the law.
Internal Training
Our CEO, the Board of Directors, and the Executive Management team are briefed on the Modern Slavery Act and associated obligations. We will keep under review what further training may be desirable for employees in future years.
Policy and Reporting Procedures
We have a Modern Slavery Policy which rejects the use of modern slavery, and individuals with concerns about modern slavery or human trafficking are able to raise these through our Group Whistleblowing Policy, which we have reviewed in the light of the new legislation. We have also updated our Group Ethics Policy; which individuals are able to refer to.
We have prepared this statement for the purposes of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
Approved by the Board of Directors on 10 March 2022.
